I Am Now Offically Old
Well I have to face it. I'm way over the hill.
I'm a Grand Dad. Little Courtney ain't little anymore. She's a Mom now and has a Boy.
Riddick John Weldon Holiman was born in Houston March 11, 2010. Mom and baby are doing well after a hard delivery.
I was hoping he would pop out in time to make the St. Paddy's Day Parade. Maybe the Art Car will be his first one. Ya can't start them too early. Learning how to properly Party takes time.
Courtney said not to give him Skates when I come down. She didn't buy me telling her that if babys learn to swim why not at least let him get used to having Skates on.
I will try to get down to Houston for a few days as soon as I can.
Right now I'm Dazed and Confused. How can a Grandpa teach his Grandson to Fish when Grandpa don't know how?

Re: I Am Now Offically Old
Riddick was the name of a guy in the future that Vin Diesl played. I think the movie is called Pitch Black. Anyway I have seen the movie.
Thanks for the Congrats. I will give Court a hug for you and tha Boys when I get down there. Will see if she and Little John are up to drop by with me and you can hug her yer selves.
I hope to hell I don't have to start acting like a responsible adult.
She got out of the hospital last night.
I will try to get down there Sat. April 3 and leave Tues the 6th. or Weds. the 7th.
After that I will start resting up to come down again for Art Car Week.
Looks like a pretty good Spring this year. Ya Think?

Re: I Am Now Offically Old
Well Commander, since you ask.
The short answer is "Why the fuck not?" All considered (now including Little John") heading South is the only thing that makes sense.
Once I don't have to show up anywhere up here for my daily bowl of rice. There are only the rational, realistic, adult reasons remaining.
I have a house that is paid for. I am low income and it is about to get 200 bucks a month lower. I don't have to pay rent. Only a fool would give up a home that is free and clear.
I have never been a rational, realistic, adult. I see no sense in trying it now. So all the above are only excuses.
The house is OK but I can't afford the up keep. The roof has 3 layers of shingles on it and wasn't new when my Mom bought it. That was 17 years ago. With the winters and occasional high winds up here it is only a matter of time till a new roof will be needed. I don't have the money or interest in putting one on. I won't put a loan against the house for a roof, then maybe lose the house in foreclosure.
My dog died 5 years ago. So I don't have a companion or need for a yard.
The county is nice up here. Crime and whatnot are here but not like The City. I know a couple of old farts that I get out and ride with.
Even that isn't really enough to hold me here. I don't really have a social life, which is my choice. If some here think I'm half crazy then just think what these good but plain folkes would think if I was "Just Myself". They couldn't relate and I can only fake being Normal for so long.
In a perfect world 5 or 6 of you, Court and Little John would move up here.
Other than the high cost of living in Downtown Houston (and I mean Way Inside The Loop) and finding suitable sacuary. There is no reason not to move Home. Actually I still think of the inner city as my home. Because of the people I know. However you have to admit the Location is beyond Cool.
Commander if you can call "All Hands" and start a head thinking, hunt and search to "Help Bob Come Home". Then I'm more than open to suggestions.
The basic critera is:
1. Location, Location, Location and affordability.
2. A suitable Cave where I can keep my Scooter inside and my truck off the street.
That is about it.
The Dream Come True would be a benefactor with a warehouse where I could park a old Air Stream or RV in the corner with hook ups. Keep the Scooter and Truck inside hidden away from the general population.
OR
The corner of a warehouse where if I bought the materials and with the help of folks who actually know what the hell the're doing. I could do a Studio type build out.
I would be willing to perform services or favors (other than Sexual) to merit my presence.
Living in a trailer inside a warehouse just seems like neat thing. If unforseen events occured. I could hook up my home and relocate.
I do understand that living down there every day just would not be like the week of last Summer's Reunion or Art Car Week. Non the less I would trade here for there.
There you have it. Now Deal with it.

Re: I Am Now Offically Old
You know me. Depends on how sweet the deal is and what I have to do.
I don't like to pull it all out at first. Just enough to lure them in.
Thanks for the Look Out, I know you will.
